Clifton High School’s Junior Christmas Celebration, held on Wednesday 27th November at Christ Church Clifton was a heart-warming start to our festive season. The church was filled with the joy, chatter and music of our Junior School community; truly capturing the magical onset of Christmas.
Cheerful families arriving at Christ Church Clifton were welcomed with a warm drink and mince pie before the performances commenced which was led by an introduction from our Head of Infant and Junior School, Mrs Alice Taylor.
Performances throughout the celebration were of high energy and spirit, reflecting the true essence of a traditional Christmas season – moments that often get lost in our fast-paced and modern lifestyles.

Opening the event were our Junior School choir whose rendition of "Silent Night" filled the church with a powerful feeling of heartwarming joy. This was followed by Year 6’s deliverance of "‘Twas the Night Before Christmas" and their own version of "Starlight" by Giles Swayne.
Our Year 3 pupils continued to spread festive cheer and delight as they enthusiastically performed "The Christmas Poem" before raising expectations with an upbeat interpretation of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". Bringing tradition to life, Year 5 recited "The First Christmas" poem before singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and it was our Year 4 pupils whose rap-infused adaptation of "Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree" transformed this classic into much applauded modern-day version.
All pupils lit up the stage in exuberance to showcase their hard work and efforts in ensuring it was their Junior Christmas Celebration that was THE one to remember! Encouraging parents to participate in the fun, a lively rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" which was the perfect finale to a wonderful afternoon of festivities.
Mr Andrew Cleaver, Head of Infant and Junior School Music, accompanied the children throughout their performances on the piano whilst bringing the gentle encouragement of his lessons into their stage debuts. Mrs Taylor took the opportunity to express gratitude to him and all the Music Department for their dedication as well as thanking parents for their continued support and the children for being ‘rays of sunshine’ today and every day!
The beautiful programme cover was drawn by Year 6 pupil, Lucie, the winner of our design competition, and we are sure you will agree, this recognition is well-deserved. Congratulations Lucie!
Thank you to everyone who made our Junior Christmas Celebration so special, and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
