Safe Travel
Travelling to school safely and responsibly is a priority at Clifton High School, as well as being an important part of our Sustainability Programme. Whether pupils walk, cycle, travel by car or public transport, safety is always our paramount concern.
For this reason, for pupils arriving by car, we respectfully ask that parents do not park or drop-off on the yellow zig-zag lines around the school gates or on double yellow lines. If these areas are blocked, even temporarily, then visibility for other pupils crossing roads and arriving at school can be seriously impaired and could lead to accidents. We would also remind parents to be respectful of our neighbours and not block any driveways or garages.
Cycling
We encourage all pupils and staff to explore active ways to travel to school and for those wishing to cycle, bikes can be secured in the bicycles shelters on the school site. We also offer a free bike maintenance services, provided by Dr Bike, as well as bike security marking, in conjunction with Bristol City Council. Bikeability training is also available during some school holidays, at both Level 2 and Level 3.
Public Transport
First Bus run regular services from surrounding areas, including Westbury-on-Trym and Henleaze, stopping at Clifton Down, which is a 15 minute walk from school. More information on routes and all timetables can be found here.
Stagecoach buses also service the local area, with more information on routes and all timetables found here.
Bakers Dolphin also operate School Coaches, more information can be found here or you can call 01934 415000.
Future Initiatives
We have recently run an Active Travel Initiative, to which we have had a really good response from parents and some valuable information has been received. We are currently investigating some ideas as to how we can help pupils travel in a more active and sustainable way. Read our Active Travel Initiative FAQs here.
