Our Infant Outdoor Education Programme provides children with the freedom to explore a variety of different environments, with an emphasis on Forest School learning. Pupils are encouraged to be curious, develop empathy and love for their environment, and lead their own direction in their interaction with the natural world.
Mr Simon Percy, Head of Adventure and Outdoor Education
At Clifton High School, our Adventure sessions develop skills to immerse Infant School children in the outdoors, building their confidence to take part in adventurous activities from Years 3 to 6.
Our Bristol location affords close links with Forestry England, Belmont Estate and Farmlink, all of which provide a well-curated, bespoke outdoor education experience, tailored to enrich the learning journey of every child in our Infant School. These include:
- The Forest School Programme, which is progressive and led by teachers who engage children in off-site outdoor activities. We have strong links to Forestry England and Belmont Estate, both of which offer Clifton High School pupils strong connections to the natural world.
- Beach School is where art, design, construction, science and drama unite in a unique beach setting.
- Farm visits expose children to animal and crop farming.
- Belmont Estate hosts our children in trips that help them delve into educational programs centred around rewilding, sustainability, conservation and the wonders of nature.
Embracing sustainability as a core School principle is reinforced in our aim to minimise transport, eliminate packaging and reduce paper waste, ensuring a responsible and impactful approach to learning. This manner of exploration instils respect, as well as a responsibility and love for the natural world.
