BRISTOL CITY POET, SUKINA NOOR, INSPIRES CLIFTON HIGH SCHOOL PUPILS

On Tuesday 4th February 2025, Clifton High School welcomed Sukina Noor, newly elected Bristol City poet, to visit us and share some of her poetry in Year 9 to 13 assemblies. Sukina also delivered three poetry workshops throughout the day to these year group pupils.

Sukina's workshops encouraged pupils to focus on the concept of 'home' as both a physical place as well as a concept, applying these ideas to a creation of their own poem using the five senses. The GCSE pupils also had the opportunity to create a poem about what Bristol means to them, experimenting with listing as a form of poetry. They were introduced to some of Vanessa Kisuule's poems as inspiration, reading them for their own writing, using image prompts of St. Paul's Carnival to inspire their interpretation.
