Eve's Poem 'As you Turn my Page'| News | Clifton High School, A Private School In Bristol

YEAR 7 PUPIL EVE'S POEM PUBLISHED BY THE NATIONAL WRITING ASSOCIATION

We are delighted to update our Clifton High School community members on the success of our Year 7 pupil, Eve, whose poem ‘As You Turn My Page’ has been selected for publication by the National Writing Association.

As part of Clifton High School’s English co-curricular Writing Club, Eve was given the opportunity to create a poem from an alternate perspective to be submitted to the National Writing Association ‘Young Writers’ competition. It is worth noting that this esteemed publication, receives entries from hundreds of 11–18-year-olds across the United Kingdom.

Eve chose to write her poem from the unique point of view of a book being read and as you will see, she used an interesting structure of repeating certain lines between stanzas, with the final line of the poem being a repeat of the title.

A huge congratulations to Eve and we very much look forward to seeing the poem printed in the anthology next month!
