Last night's Futures and Skills Evening was a resounding success. The
evening, entitled 'Your Future Starts Here' aimed to help our pupils
make difficult decisions about their future. Advice, work experience and
internships are all a vital part of decision making regarding future
careers and Clifton High School endeavours to do all it can to support
our pupils in finding these opportunities.
The night began with a short UCAS presentation for Year 12 regarding
the university admissions process, which was followed by a series of
presentations for Years 9-12. Presentations were given by professionals
working in a range of sectors. Pupils had a chance to pick the speakers
they wished to hear in advance to ensure that they could find out more
about potential career paths which specifically interest them. The
fifteen minute talks covered aspects of each speaker's field such as the
day-to-day nature of their jobs, and what qualifications, research or
work experience will help pupils enter, and excel in, their chosen
field.
Talks were given by experts in the management, finance, creative
design, IT, languages, law, medicine and science sectors, amongst other
areas.
