The Delancey UK Schools' Chess Challenge is the largest tournament of its kind, with over 1200 schools competing. The Megafinal, which is the second round of this four-stage national competition, was held on Sunday at BGS in Bristol and Clifton High was represented by a team of pupils in various age categories.
All pupils performed superbly and many to great success. Omid, in Year 10, came third in the Under 15 Boys category; Sylvain, in Year 10, was placed second in the Under 14 Boys; Loic, in Year 6, was second in the Under 11 Boys; Gaëtan, in Year 8, took first place in Under 13 Boys; and Maëlys, in Year 1, came first in the Under 7 Girls competition.
Loic, Gaëtan and Maëlys, who are all siblings, qualified on positioning and points combined, and go through to the third round of the tournament; The Gigafinals. Congratulations to all who took part and the very best of luck to these three Clifton High pupils in the next stage of the competition.
